We’re thrilled to announce that the TOR-BSST© Screener Training is now available as an eLearning Program through Northern Speech Services:

This program offers an online alternative to the standard live, in-person, SLP-led course. As with the live SLP-led training, the eLearning program still requires learners to demonstrate competency in the presence of a TOR-BSST© trained SLP, as a final step before certification as TOR-BSST© screeners.

Note: The eLearning program must be purchased by a TOR-BSST© trained SLP or hospital administrator/manager, and facilitated under the direction of a TOR-BSST© trained SLP. Learners access the program using unique enrolment codes provided by the SLP or administrator. After successfully completing the eLearning course, learners are reminded to complete the live one-on-one observation with the SLP to be deemed competent.

Now, SLP Dysphagia Experts have the option to launch the TOR-BSST© in one of 2 ways:

1. The same program as before, including the SLP live didactic screener training and access to all our resources.
2. The new eLearning program, which allows screeners to complete the online course independently, replacing your live didactic training. This option still gives the SLP access to all our TOR-BSST© resources.

This animated patient guide to dysphagia was developed by the University Health Network Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the University of Toronto Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the University of Toronto Department of Speech-Language Pathology, the Swallowing Lab, and Mechanisms in Medicine Inc.
