Trixie Reichardt, MHSc
Trixie is the Lab Manager and also one of its Clinical Research Coordinators. She has been with the Lab for over 11 years — since its inception. As manager, she is involved in all active research studies and also handles most of the day-to-day administrative and financial responsibilities that keep the lab running smoothly. She enrolls and assesses research participants; collects, enters and analyzes data; manages financial accounts; and assists with grant submissions, ethics protocols and manuscript preparation.
Prior to joining the Lab, she completed undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Toronto in the Department of Nutritional Sciences, and she is a licensed Registered Dietitian. She has also worked as a Research Analyst in the field of eating disorders and as a Research Coordinator in mindfulness meditation.
Gabriela Vanin, MS, SLP
Gabriela is a Research Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in the Swallowing Lab. She is a Registered MBSImP©™ Clinician and conducts analyses of research videofluoroscopic swallow studies using the MBSImP©™ tool. Gabriela’s work as an SLP, which began in Brazil, has furnished her with clinical expertise in the area of swallowing. In addition, she has a deep appreciation of how research insights can inform and enhance clinical practice, as her Master’s research focused on the risk of dysphagia in ICU patients. Teaching and consulting have also become an important part of her professional work.
